1444957 Induction pipes L ELSBETT and G ELSBETT 15 Aug 1973 [23 Aug 1972] 38520/73 Heading F1B Direct injection reciprocating piston I.C. engine has swirl promoting means in the induction pipe and fuel is injected into a combustion recess in a direction tangential to the swirling air therein so that in the early stages of combustion the oxygen available for combustion in a zone at the centre of the combustion recess is maintained at a low level and the air near the wall of the recess does not take part in the combustion process until expansion begins. The swirling movement is initiated by a curved induction pipe which contains a vane 16, pivotally mounted at one end on an axis 18 and rotatable about the axis by a linkage in accordance with engine load or exhaust gas composition. Vane 16 is curved at the free end either towards or away from the valve guide 17.

one
The invention relates to the mechanical engineering, in particular, to the implementation of internal combustion engines with combustion chambers having a special shape for improving the working process.
Known internal combustion engines include a cylinder head with exhaust valves located in the direction of the exhaust pipe, exhaust gas ducts and inlet ducts, each with an inlet and a spiral vortex adjacent to the exhaust port of the duct, | 5 a also a deflector installed in the intake passage. The deflecting element is designed so that when the load changes, due to the change in temperature of the channel walls, the flow area of the inlet channel leading to the combustion chamber I changes.
However, at variable load modes, the deflecting element work is 25
It is inefficient, since, due to the inertia of the temperature state, it does not have time to react promptly to a change in the temperature state in the inlet channel.
In addition, the known diverting element often too drastically restricts the flow of air and necessary air introduced into the combustion chamber, eliminating the organized turbulence of air necessary for complete combustion and leading to a high emission of toxic substances.
The purpose of the invention is to improve the combustion process by maximizing the vortex of the fuel charge.
In order to achieve this goal, an internal combustion engine, in particular a diesel, contains a cylinder head with in-line valves, c-channels for venting exhaust gases and inlet ports equipped with a sleeves. A swirl collar adjacent to the channel outlet to the cylinder and a deflecting element made in the form of a blade, one end of which is placed at the outlet of the inlet channel at the valve guide, and the other end in the zone of the inlet channel, and the deflecting element mounted on an axis associated with a lever control mechanism.
The blade may be made so that its end, located at the valve guide, is bent in the direction opposite to the valve guide.
FIG. 1 shows a piston with a combustion chamber placed in it, a longitudinal section; in fig. 2 - a piston with a combustion chamber, top view; in fig. 3 - cylinder head with an inlet channel placed in it, provided with a deflecting element in the form of a blade.
The internal combustion engine comprises a cylinder head 1 with 2 valves (not shown) located in the guides, exhaust channels (not shown) and inlet channels 3, each of which is provided with an inlet 4 and a spiral vortex 5 adjacent to a bore 6 of channel 3 and a deflecting element 7 made in the form of a blade, one end of which is placed at the outlet of the inlet channel, at the valve guide 2, and the other in the zone of the inlet 4 of channel 3 and installed on about C 8 associated with a lever control mechanism 9.
The internal combustion engine can be designed so that the end of the blade 7, located near the valve guide 2, is made bent in the direction opposite to the valve guide 2.
The internal combustion engine works as follows.
The air entering the combustion chamber, made in the shape of a body of revolution, acquires a rotational motion around the longitudinal axis of the combustion chamber, due to the spiral
swirl 5 installed in the air intake duct 3.
In order to direct the air flow, depending on the temperature condition in the intake kg-gade 3, a deflecting element 7 is installed, pivoted by the lever mechanism 9 around the axis 8, to regulate the flow area and, consequently, the amount of air flowing into the combustion chamber. The second lever mechanism 9 can be implemented depending on the engine load,.
Thus, as a result of the cooling of air through the inlet channel, narrowed by the deflecting element 7 and the spiral swirler 5, a strong air turbulence is created in the combustion chamber, which contributes to the improvement of the mixture formation and the completeness of the combustion of fuel.
